Discovery Computer Camp at Cal Poly

The computer world continues to evolve and as school districts elevate their computer curriculum, Cal Poly Pomona responds with a redeveloped camp designed to push campers even further. We now implement Alice as our primary programming software, in order for campers to develop more complicated apps, worlds and animations. Campers will also utilize Autodesk software to produce 3D printable objects. Campers can look forward to scanning objects and meshing them into different forms or using Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software to build objects from scratch. Campers will be able to take home a fabrication of their own design and production.

Children ages 10-14 will have an animated experience during our 5-day camp. Campers will learn software and techniques to create both 2D and 3D animation. These skills are then used to construct virtual worlds with 3D objects, characters and stories. Through different platforms, campers will continue into video game programming to produce games or apps that can be shared. Other highlights of the camp include the use of commercial software for the use in 3D printing & app programming. Our Computer Science Camps are a fantastic way to both develop real-world skills, as well as produce a great deal of enjoyment for your young campers.
