Kids Book Club: The Sherlock Society at the Cellar Door Bookstore

The Sherlock Society has everythingggg! Crime-solving, cool cars, history, Al Capone (what???), and super smart kids diving into hundred-year-old capers, all in the balmy Miami sun. (Cue some surf rock!) It’s summer. Alex and Zoe are bored and need a way to pass the time, so they decide to take inspiration from their last name Sherlock (yeah, like that guy!) and open their own detective agency with their two besties. Thankfully their retired journalist grandpa’s old case files drudge up some clues about where famed criminal-on-the-run Al Capone hid his million-dollar treasure, but in the pursuit of fame, legend, and fortune, the Sherlock Society runs into a scandal that runs much deeper than the ultimate treasure, with a whole community in greater danger than any of them knows. The best part? An adult in their lively, wily grandpa who not only drives them around in a super rad car, but he also encourages their adventures and respects their voices rather than assuming he knows best! As much a really good family story as it is about trusting your gut and trusting in your friends, The Sherlock Society is a caper that is fun as all get-out, while believing in kids to change society and save their community.
